The Play2Win football coaching is provided by qualified FA Coaches and will be providing sessions for the under 14s and the under 16s.
The coaching sessions run from 12 noon until 2pm:
- Mondays - Stonebridge Estate
- Tuesdays – Tiverton Estate
- Wednesdays – Fred Messer Estate
- Thursdays – Stonebridge and Fred Messer Estates
- Fridays Tiverton Estate
These sessions run throughout august until Friday 24th. On Saturday 25th August the coaching will culminate in a football tournament to be held at Chestnuts Park.
Coach Peter Johnson said,
‘This is a great opportunity for young people in the area to come along and pick up a few new skills during the summer. It will give them a bit of an extra edge if they want to try out for any of the local teams in the new season. Its fun. Its free and everyone is welcome.’
The Bridge New Deal for Communities has just invested £20,000 in refurbishing the football cage on Tiverton estate.
|Back to topJonathan Kaggwa, a ten year old resident of Tiverton said,
‘This play area, football pitch and basketball court is 10 out of 10. The goals are really great. We come here and have a great time.’
Another local resident Naseem Corey (7years old) said,
‘I like it, its great and we can all play here.’
The refurbishment of the football cage was part of a range of works that have been taking place on Tiverton estate. In previous years these works have included substantial refurbishment and energy improvement measures to a number of the blocks. Last year John Masefield and Eckington House were brought up to the Decent Homes Standard. By the end of The Bridge New Deal for Communities programme over 300 homes on Tiverton estate will have been brought up to the Decent Homes Standard. This year works include the refurbishment of Fladbury Square (which will be completed in October 2007).
Tim Clark, Neighbourhood Services Theme Manager for The Bridge New Deal for Communities said,
‘The quality of life in the area is rising. Crime figures are down. The investment of The Bridge New Deal for Communities in local estates is making a real difference. The summer football activities are an ideal way for kids to stay safe and healthy.’
